Showering after sport: Spotlight on the “Recovery” digital scenario

Hansgrohe’s RainTunes is all about feel-good moments and the perfect shower experience. So the brand has developed digital showering with a team of experts. This “Recovery” scenario is made for active people. In a defined process, jet types and water temperatures are set for optimum refreshment and recovery after exercise.

RainTunes “Recovery”: pre-programming revitalisation

Picture the scene: You’ve worn yourself out jogging, bike racing or on the track and are looking forward to your shower. But instead of just jumping right in, you grab your smartphone, open the hansgrohe home app and select the “Recovery” shower scenario. An orchestrated water experience starts at the touch of a button: The shower and jet types switch fully automatically, the temperature changes on its own and the cool video, light and sound effects help you to surf the wellness wave. This wellness shower targets and eases tired parts of the body. Thousands of micro-droplets, cold water infusions and pulsating massage sprays stimulate body and mind to leave you feeling fit, relaxed and in a good mood.

RainTunes “Recovery”: by athletes, for athletes

Hansgrohe brought in a team of experts to help develop this refreshing shower scenario: sports physicians, fitness coaches, alternative practitioners and physiotherapists. Dan Lorang, the coach of BORA-hansgrohe, one of the world’s best cycling teams, was also heavily involved. Who better to know the best showering tricks to leave you feeling fighting fit. And so we incorporated Lorang’s expertise in sports medicine into the “Recovery” RainTunes scenario.

Showering like cycling stars Peter Sagan and Pascal Ackermann

For those who don’t (yet) use digital showers, Dan Lorang is here to let you into a secret: These are the best showering tips from cycling stars such as Peter Sagan and Pascal Ackermann. The next time you demonstrate your sporting prowess, use these pro tips in the shower:

10 minutes of intense showering after sport
  • Shower your legs with the water as cold as you can handle (around 8-12 °C) for two minutes. Start with the outer side of your right leg and shower up to your hip. Then back down the inside of your leg. Repeat the process, 2x on the right and 2x on the left. Then start from the beginning.
  • Now with your whole body under the shower. Shower for around a minute at a pleasant temperature (35-37 °C).
  • For the next 6 minutes, switch between hot and cold water every 45 seconds. Always start with cold water on the outside of the right leg, shower up to the hip, switch to the inside and back down. Switch sides and do the same on the left. Then shower the right arm (outside and inside). Switch sides, do the left arm and then the entire body.
  • To finish, give your legs another cold shower for around a minute.
