Great ideas for your bathroom mirror

Bathroom mirror ideas: The right design for the right effect

A beautiful mirror belongs in every bathroom. We take a look within it to prepare for the day in the morning. Makeup, shaving, grooming, or hairstyle checks – it has to be able to do a lot and look good itself. Learn what you should look for when making your choice here.

Square or round: Choose the perfect shape

The round shape is the optimal contrast to the pendant lamp.

One classic model is rectangular or, quite traditional, recessed into a bathroom cabinet. But it can also be done differently. If you want to make the central element an eye-catcher, be brave and you will be rewarded with a beautiful head-turner.

Very different shapes are possible:

  • Round or elliptical: A large, round shape looks soft and harmonious, but still stands out.
  • Collection: Hang multiple square bathroom mirrors to form a larger square, for example. To get a good view of yourself, there should be a slightly larger area in the middle.
  • Geometric shapes: Fit well in minimalistically designed rooms in the form of parallelograms, diamonds, hexagons, or octagons.

Mix it up: Ideas for mirrors with color and material

The mirror above the bathroom sink should have a clear surface, on which the viewer will recognize a realistic reflection of themselves. If you want to add other design elements in the room, why not choose an object with a colored mirror surface in orange, gold, or pink?

Even a classic model can have a strong character; the frame is often the deciding factor. You can make this choice based on several factors:

  • Frame thickness: Thin frames look elegant and restrained, while thick frames with or without ornaments are eye-catching.
  • Material: In wellness bathrooms, wooden frames add to the relaxing atmosphere. Aluminum, on the other hand, has a cooler effect and is a supporting element in industrial design.
  • Colors: Frames in matte black, white, or silver emphasize the modern look of a bathroom. One interesting accent: colored aluminum frames.

Spot on: Stage the mirror with light

You have two options: You can choose a mirror with integrated lighting, or you can provide an external light source that will put you in the right light. Illuminating the model indirectly from behind will give it a pleasantly subdued light, also making it good for relaxing in the bath tub.

The disadvantage here can be that the brightness isn't enough for putting on makeup. In this case, consider another spotlight or LED strip above, which you turn on only for makeup or shaving.

When choosing a light source, pay attention to the following aspects:

  • Warm or cool: The light temperature determines whether a light appears warm or cool. For a close look, the best choice is cold light between 4,000 and 5,000 lumens, while warm light at 3,000 lumens works best for relaxing in the shower. If you want to have both, choose a lamp with adjustable color temperatures.
  • Protection class: The mode you choose should have at least IP protection class 65, so that the lights work properly and safely even in events of high humidity and splashing.

So, how does your mirror look?

It can be a functional element that fits well into the overall design of the room in terms of shape and color. But it can also be a true eye-catcher, if you choose an interesting color, shape, or lighting. Decide for yourself which model will bring a smile to your face in the morning.
