Brilliant triathlon weekend in Offenburg

A brilliant sports weekend in Offenburg was wrapped up today with the S-Distance and M-Distance competitions for recreational contenders. Some 650 professional and amateur sportsmen and sportswomen crossed the start line during the two-day Hansgrohe Triathlon on the shores of Gifiz Lake. In bright sunshine and water temperatures above 23 degrees, both days provided ideal conditions for the athletes to successfully complete the three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running, whether they were there as individual starters or with friends, colleagues or in a family group in the relay over the three different distances.

130 sportsmen and sportswomen took advantage of the newly established sprint distance on the Saturday. These included lots of people new to triathlons, who came together for exciting competitions spanning over 400 metres of swimming, 20 kilometres of cycling and five kilometres of running. Another premiere was the Hansgrohe World Supersprint on the Saturday, the national league race with international stars from the triathlon scene. Anne Haug from the SYNERGIE SPORTS team TV 1848 Erlangen won for the women. Tony Dodds from the StartNet team DSW 12 Darmstadt crossed the finish line first for the men.
