Ten-year success story for the iBox universal from Hansgrohe

Essen/Schiltach, 10 March 2010. It is flexible, versatile, universal in application and facilitates flush-mount installation. Properties that have made it the ‘darling of plumbers’ everywhere. And it is celebrating its tenth anniversary! The installation unit iBox universal from mixer and shower specialist Hansgrohe is the result of a veritable success story, which began with the market launch of the multi-functional model in 2001.

Ten years of freedom in installation
Right back in the late 1980s, Alois Schönweger had a bright idea for a revolutionary installation solution. The Head of the Hansgrohe AG Technical Service Centre is the inventor of the clever iBox universal installation unit. The initial idea was followed by more than 13 years of intensive development work before the first plumbers reaped the benefits of the iBox universal following its launch at the ISH 2001 trade fair. “The idea was simple and practical: a flush-mounted installation unit for the bathroom to which plumbers can connect any type of water dream – without the need to turn the entire bathroom into a construction site every time,” remembers the trained plumber and fitter Schönweger. “To this very day, there is still no other flush-mounted system on the market that can handle all types of applications and installations using a single main unit with a single technology. The advantages are obvious: even in demanding installation situations, sanitation professionals do not need any additional skills and knowledge, thus virtually eliminating mistakes.”
