AquaTektur represents fundamental architectural research about water and bathroom in the best possible sense, because the development of the bathroom is a process that constantly demands new concepts and solutions. Axor uses the AquaTektur-Workshops to promote the dialog with architects on different bathing cultures and bathing habits in order to develop new concepts and ideas for the contemporary bathroom as well as to sensitise to those.

"Rethinking the bathroom" – for architects, this is not necessarily revolutionary. Repeatedly questioning architectural assumptions is a core aspect of the profession. Thought must also be given to the ever faster changes in life style, in bathing habits and in room layout. In this way, the approaches from which innovations grow originate in practice.

Real innovations are rarely dreamed up by highly specialized experts. Innovation requires a certain distance form the object of consideration. It emerges in the interaction of generalists and specialists and it presupposes specific freedoms.

The declared objective of the Aqua Tektur workshop series of Axor is the possibility of reflecting on architectural use of this material – taking place in an exceptional group of international and highly-qualified architects.

The fact that we, as global players in the sanitary fittings industry, are able to repeatedly acquire an inspirational boost from the architects in this workshop series is an expression of our willingness to engage in an open dialog in the subject of architecture and water. We are doing so because we see this commitment as a long-term process. And we are aware of the important role played by architects and interior architects in the process of innovation relating to technical building systems and fittings.
