Side HotelProject/Location: SIDE Hotel, Hamburg/Germany The eighty-storey glass body of the SIDE hotel is held up and surmounted by a massive stone spine. The building façade of light-filament glass and natural stone blends in harmonically with city´s environment. A location without parallel: The glass atrium with lighting installation by Robert Wilson in the interior of the hotel. The trapeze-shaped floor plan opens upward 29.5 m, and the glass façade tilted at 3° creates a sense of spatial tension. The symbiosis of architecture and interior design leaves its mark. Every area of the building conveys its own individual atmosphere. Sparsely placed, large forms underline the concept of reduction that progresses continuously from the exterior of the SIDE hotel to the interior. |
